3 days in Naxos
The perfect ‘Mamma Mia’ holiday on a budget.
Longing for relaxation and solitude after a hectic couple of days in Fira, Naxos was the perfect destination. If you’re looking to escape as young Donna for a few days then this is definitely the island for you.
After a whole day spent trying to catch a ferry during a windstorm, arriving in Naxos felt like a dream. We stayed in a little apartment just a few minutes from the port and had dinner at Oasis: appropriately named with incredible pizza.
The island has a calmer nightlife atmosphere and is less gentrified, making it less busy than islands such as Mykonos and Santorini. The old castle walls bordering the town along with the classic blue walls and cobbled streets make it feel straight out of a fairy tale.
My top recommendations for a trip to Naxos would be the beautiful sandy beaches and a trip to the temple of Apollo at sunset. The view of the island from the cliffs as the sun retires is a once in a lifetime experience.
